1. Information we collect
We collect only the information required to process and ship your order: your name, shipping address, email address, and order history. We never ask for — or store — government identification, social security numbers, or financial account details beyond what our payment processors require.
Browsing data (pages visited, device type, approximate region) is collected in aggregate, anonymized form to improve the store experience. We do not build individual behavioral profiles.
2. How your information is used
Order data is used exclusively to fulfil your purchase, send tracking updates, and respond to support requests. If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email is used to send product updates and educational content — one short email per week, with one-click unsubscribe in every message.
We never sell or rent your personal data. The only marketing-related sharing we do is sending limited, privacy-protected advertising analytics to Meta (see "Cookies & advertising analytics" below) — never your card details, order contents, or shipping address.
3. Data retention & deletion
Order records are retained for 12 months for support and warranty purposes, then permanently purged. You may request complete deletion of your data at any time by emailing orders@northstarmushrooms.com — we process deletion requests within 72 hours.
4. Discretion & packaging
Privacy extends to the physical world. Every order ships in plain, unmarked packaging with a generic business return address. Nothing on the outside — or on your bank statement — indicates the contents of your order.
5. Cookies & advertising analytics
We use a first-party cookie to keep your cart contents between visits.
We also use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Meta Conversions API to measure the performance of our advertising and understand which pages and products visitors engage with. This may set Meta cookies in your browser and share limited event data (such as page views, add-to-cart actions, and completed purchases) with Meta. Any personal identifier we send for a purchase — such as your email — is cryptographically hashed before it leaves our servers, and we never share your card details, order contents, or shipping address with Meta.
You can limit this tracking through your browser settings, an ad or tracker blocker, or your Meta ad preferences.
6. Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit via TLS. Order data is stored on access-controlled infrastructure with encryption at rest. Access to customer information is limited to the support staff who need it to fulfil your order.
